The Raggle Taggle Gypsy

(Capo 3. Bund)

a                    C        G      a                              C    G     a
There were three auld gypsies came to our hall door
                                         G          e
They came brave and bodly-O
                      G                a                       G                   a
And there's one sang high and the other sang low
                                                                    C    G    a
And the lady sang the raggle taggle Gypsy-O.

She gave to them a glass of wine
She gave to them some brandy-O
And the fine gold ring that the lady wore
She gave it to the raggle taggle Gypsy-O.

Upstairs downstairs the lady went
Put on her boots of leather-O
It was the cry all around the door
She's away with the raggle taggle Gypsy-O.

Late that night the lord came in
Enquiring for his lady-O
And the servant girl's reply to him was:
"She's away with the raggle taggle Gypsy-O.

Then saddle for me my milk white steed
My big horse is not speedy-O
I will ride and seek my bride
She's away with the raggle taggle Gypsy-O.

He rode east and he rode west
He rode north and south also
But when he came to a wide open field
It was there he spied his lady-O.

"Why did you leave your house and your land?
Why did you leave your money-O?
Why did you leave your only wedded lord
All for the raggle taggle Gypsy-O".

"Yerra what do I care for my house and my land
What do I care for money-O
What do I care for my only wedded lord
I'm away with the raggle taggle Gypsy-O".

"There last night you'd a goose feather bed
With blankets drawn so comely
Tonight you'll lie in a wide open field
In the arms of your raggle taggle Gypsy-O".

"Yerra what do I care for a goose feather bed
what do I care for your blankets
For tonight I'll lie in a wide open field
In the arms of my raggle taggle Gypsy-O".

"Oh for you rode east when I rode west
You rode high when I rode low
I'd rather have a kiss of the yellow Gypsy's lips
Than all of your gold and silver-O".
